Africa has lost the safety net of the community that provided support and ancient knowledge to guide you through pregnancy and motherhood. Today, young mothers and fathers find themselves in an apartment alone overwhelmed, despite all the information you can get from experts and technology online.

Meet Shikari, the woman giving Kisumu mothers round the clock support service called a doula.

The Kisumu doula says her own experience taught her you need someone to walk with you through the process, guiding you and supporting you all the way from conception into the first critical months.
